A devotional portrait of Eve, the woman who chose knowledge, instinct, and the forbidden path of her own becoming.

Created with coffee, charcoal, and raw earth-toned washes, Eden was originally intended to receive layers of natural pigment. But as she emerged, I could not bring myself to add anything more. She already felt complete. Raw, imperfect, ancient and alive.

In this work, Eve is not the fallen woman. She is the woman who follows the quiet pull of her own heart.

🜃 The forbidden fruit

The fruit becomes a symbol of the knowledge we are taught not to seek — intuition, desire, sovereignty, sensuality, curiosity, and the courage to experience life directly.

Eve reaches not toward sin, but toward consciousness. Her choice is the first act of becoming.

✧ The serpent as medicine

Here, the serpent is not her enemy. It is wisdom moving close to the earth. Transformation. Instinct. The shedding of an old skin.

Across ancient traditions, the serpent has carried associations with healing, rebirth, fertility and sacred knowledge. In Eden, it becomes Eve’s medicine, the force that invites her to trust what she knows within herself.

🜁 Left intentionally raw

The portrait was created predominantly with coffee and charcoal, their warm, earthen tones becoming part of the mythology of the work.

I had planned to introduce sacred pigments, but something in her asked to remain untouched. And so I listened.

There is a kind of feminine power in refusing unnecessary embellishment, in realizing that nothing needs to be added in order to be whole.

Eden reimagines the ancient story not as the fall of woman, but as her awakening.

She is curiosity without apology.
Instinct without shame.
Knowledge held within the body.
The feminine remembering that her inner knowing was never something to fear.

This painting is an invitation to return to your own inner garden, to the place beneath conditioning, beneath expectation, beneath the voices telling you what you should choose. To listen again. To take the fruit. To trust the serpent. To follow the knowing that has been yours all along.
